Hats off to you Community Helpers!!!

This week was Fire Safety week for all the schools in the nation.  We learned to how stay safe in a fire, what to do if there is a fire/emergency, and how to prevent fire (using unsafe/safe items).  This week we incorporated our Community Helpers unit in with Fire Saftey.

Here the Kindergartners are working together to make a path.  We recently learned what a path was and how/why we use them. They were split into groups and have to make a path for my truck that I had.

One of our sight words was the word: red.  They are cutting out red pictures in a magazine.  They then had to glue them into their journals.

Center Work: Dot painting

Center time:  weighing items

Building blocks

One of our anchor charts to help us learn more about a community helper and how they help us.

Our sight word poem: a

In their journals they had to circle the word 'a' in our poem, glue it and then had to draw what they can be.

Doing some buddy reading.

Center works: color words.

Center time: Computers!
Our computers are finally working and the Kindergartners are starting on their lessons on the website: ABCmouse.com

Finding matches in math.

One of the community helpers that we learned about this week were Police Officers. We read books about what police officers do and how they help us.  The craft and writing activity that we did is shown later on.

Sight word poem:  to

We also learned about firefighters.  After we read a story about them, we filled out this chart on what they can do, what they have and what they are.

As I mentioned before we did police officer crafts and writing activity.  Here they are! They turned out really cute!

I may have mentioned this before but I can't believe how well their handwriting has been.  They are becoming great little writers.

Our firefighters craft.  We also did a writing activity with this craft.

The writing part about firefighters.
