Dancing through Homecoming Week!

We danced our way through Homecoming this week!  Our theme was "Dancing through the Decades."  It was fun week for the Kinders and their outfits for each day were awesome!!

Here some a few things we did this fun, crazy and busy week!

Buddy reading - when we read to a partner or a puppet!  This week we read our little stories to our puppets!

The leaves that we water colored last week are up for our September door decor!  They turned out awesome!

70's day!

Peace!

One of our sight words this week was: it.  We are dot painting using Q-tips the word it.

Our color sight word of the week was red.  This song was very catchy!  I heard them singing it through the day and then I even sang it at home!
Our red poem/song went into our journals.

This week we were introduced on classifying and categorizing.  We first sorted out buttons by color as a whole group by putting them in the matching color bucket.  Then we separated into groups and sorted them by shape.

Busy working on our homecoming posters.

Math centers.  One of our centers was the "Dump It' game.  We have been learning ways to make five. They each got 5 double sided goldfish (one side red/one side yellow).  They shook their fish in the cup and dumped them onto the tray.  However many red or yellow fish they got they had to draw that many circles in the correct color box.  They LOVED this game and did a very good job!

Dot painting the correct number of leaves on each tree.

In Science this week we learned about reptiles.  We learned that they have scales, lay eggs and are cold blooded.  Some reptiles can even live in the water!
We read stories about reptiles and also saw some real pictures of reptiles as well.

We made some snakes on the last day of our unit.  The roughness of the noodles were to represent the feeling of the scales on our snakes.

Lined up and ready to go march in the parade with our posters!  Go Big Blue!!

L is for Leaf

Wow where has the time go!  I cannot believe how far behind I am.  The preschoolers have already learned three letters and I still haven't posted.  I apologize to all my parents and followers.  Before fall approached us, the preschoolers learned about leaves.  The letter of the week was Ll (which fit perfect with our theme), the shape of the week was a triangle, number was #2 and the color was red (rojo).   We also L's with leaves glued onto them to introduce the letter and the sound.  Along with learning about triangles - we made a triangle person who of course was made out of all triangles.

We read a book called "Windy Day" which taught us some of our opposites!  We learned how leaves get to the ground - they either fall down or the WIND blows them!  We pretended to be the wind and blow our leaves everywhere!

We named some of the colors leaves can turn into.  I asked them what it would be like if we mixed all those colors together that they said to see what color we could make!

On Friday, we read the book "There was an Old Lady Who Swallowed Some Leaves".  We glued the pictures in her belly based on the sequence of the story.
