Kinders Under the Sea!

This week the Kinders went under the Sea!  We learned about ocean animals, how they survive and even tasted salt water!

Here the Kinders are reading their weekly stories to a buddy - buddy reading.

Working on some center work - matching uppercase and lowercase letters.

Matching letters during centers.

Sight word work - yellow!

One of our ocean crafts we made - crabs!  We talked, walked and even hid like crabs!

The Kinders had a homework assignment.  We read a story about a Hermit Crab who needed a new home because he outgrew his shell.  They had to come up with a new shell for their hermit crab to live in. They turned out super cute!

Animal Adventures!

These last few weeks have very busy!  Not only are we finishing up some units but we are also getting closer to Christmas!  We all know where the Kinders minds have been! :) They have been doing a great job at staying focused.

We are getting close to the end of our animal unit.  We learned about animals in the ocean, the desert and the animal that lives in Antarctica -penguins!

After we learned about some of the animals that live in the ocean, they each got to choose one of their favorites and write why they like it.  We attached our writings to our divers.

One of our letters we learned this week was the letter Ff.  We built a fire and wrote words that begin with Ff on the 'flames.'

One our of penguin crafts!

We read a story: If You Were a Penguin.  To go with our craft they had to think of something they would do if they were a penguin.

Here are our divers!

Building our Christmas ornaments that we hung up on our ceiling.

Making our desert scenes. We learned that animals in the desert have long ears because it helps them stay cool.  The Kinders also learned that the desert is pretty quiet during the day, but at night it is a lot noisier! The animals come out at night because it is a lot cooler.

The other letter that we learned was the letter Dd.  We made our Dd into a donut.  You can't have a donut without sprinkles! :)

One of our sight words was: look.  We read a story called The Looking Book.  These two kids got a special pair of lookers from their mom to get them to go outside.  They each got a pair of lookers and had to go around and find some things.  We then went around and looked for certain letters and numbers that were on our 'looking' sheet.

Paint dotting our sight word: look

We read a story called I Wanna Iguana.  The story is about a little boy that wants an iguana, so he tries to persuade his mom with reasons why he needs one.  The kinders each had to write a few sentences to try to persuade their parents to let them have this certain pet.

Our ornaments all finished!

Here are some of our fact charts from learning about animals in the ocean.

We made a fish from our letter Ff.
