Veterans and Thanksgiving!

Oh my goodness - Thanksgiving has come and gone and 2018 is almost done!  Where has the time gone?  I apologize for the late post.  Here are pictures from the last few weeks of school.

We learned about Veterans, soldiers and heroes/community helpers.  Here is our Veterans craft.

Here is our Thanksgiving door decor.

One of the community helpers we learned about were police officers.  We talked about how they keep us safe and protect us like soldiers and firefighters.

Performing at the Veteran's program.

One of our letters we learned was the letter Nn.  Nn is for night.

Another letter we learned was the letter Bb.  This story is a super cute Bb story.  Bear wakes up and is hungry for breakfast.  He can only eat something that starts with the letter Bb.  Some animals come that start with the letter Bb and they try to help him so they don't get eaten.

During the story Bear got a 'boo-boo.'  We learned that 'boo-boo' starts with the letter Bb.  So we drew some 'boo-boos' on our bears.  We then put on bandaids to help make their boo-boos feel better.

Bb is for bat and ball.

We read a story called Turkey Trouble.  Turkey is in trouble because he finds out that he is the main course for Thanksgiving.  He tries all these different disguises to hide from and trick the farmer.
The Kinders had to think of a new disguise for the turkey so they can hide from the farmer.

Working on some handwriting.  They had to come up with a Thanksgiving grocery list.  They got to choose what they wanted for their Thanksgiving meal.

Nn is for Night - Bb is for Bat and Ball!

This week the Kinders had two letters of the week.  We learned about the letters:  Nn and Bb.  We kicked off our week with learning about the letter Nn.  We listed Nn words and listened to the sound.
We turned our Nn's into night!

Our reading story this week focused on pandas and their growth from baby to adult.  We learned quite a few facts about pandas.
1. They are not bears - they belong to the raccoon family.
2. They eat bamboo and they eat A LOT!
3. They are lazy.  They like to roll to places instead of walking.
4. They are very curious and playful animals!

In our handwriting journals they each wrote a sentence about a fact we learned about pandas.

Our letter Nn's up.

Our panda full of Nn words.  We wrote words with Nn at the beginning and at the end of words.

Our next letter the week was the letter Bb.  We listed Bb words and listened to the sounds.  We made our b out of a bat and ball.  We sang a little chant to help us remember how to write a b.
Bat first and then up to add the ball.

We made a panda craft this week to go with our story.  We painted the white face with forks!

Buddy our elf arrived this week!!

He left us a story about himself, some of his magic just in case he falls down (Mrs. Bartling can pick him back up if she uses the magic), and a note!

Putting our panda crafts together.

Tada!!  The fork lines really look like the pandas' hair!

Baseball full of Bb words.  We read a story called If You Give a Mouse a Brownie.  We listed our Bb words in the story and they had to choose three of them to write.
Of course you can't learn the letter Bb without eating some brownies!! They munched on some brownies while writing their words.

The start of our many Christmas crafts!

This week we learned about weather.  We checked the weather not once every like we usually do but we checked it twice!  We learned that weather changes all the time.  We looked at weather maps and learned what the colors meant.  Once they learned that blue meant snow they kept looking for snow in our area.   The Kinders also got to see how weather is different all over the world.  We saw some places that were having thunderstorms, some rain and some had snow in the same day!

Our weather craft with our weather words!
