Mm is for Moose, Muffins and Mice!

This week we started focusing on a letter at a time!  Our letter of the week was letter Mm.  We identified the sound, the letter and
blended words that begin and end with the sound.

One of our sight words this week was the word: it.  Here is some sight word work that they worked on.  We also have been working on real and make-believe (fantasy).  After they colored their snake, they had to identify if it was a real or make believe snake.

Door number 2 decor!  Water colored leaves.

New math center!  Roll a leaf!

Mm is for mouse!

Sorting out and identifying Mm pictures.

In science we have been learning about motion.  We made some ramps with blocks to help put our ball into motion.  We had to figure out how to get the ball over the blocks that stopped our ball in motion.  They used directions that we have been learning; around and around, up and down and back and forth.

One of our Mm stories we read was If You Give a Moose a Muffin.  We couldn't read the story without eating muffins!

Enjoying our muffins!

Another Mm activity involved M & M's!  They placed their M & M's on all the Mm's they could find. Once they found them all they had to then circle them.  The best part was eating them - of course!

Happy Birthday Johnny Appleseed!

This week has been a very busy week for the Kinders.

Our letter of the week was letter Mm.   We read a story about a mouse and a mousetrap.  After our story we made our Mm's into a mouse!

Buddy reading with our puppets!

This week the Kinders were introduce to what a noun is.  We learned about people and animal nouns (common nouns only).

Our mice up for all to see!

Johnny Appleseed's birthday was September 26 - so this week we had our apple week!

We learned the parts of an apple and how to label things.

Our apple labeling craft.

On Tuesday to continue with our letter of the week - we read If You Give a Moose a Muffin.  We learned how to sequence items in our story and ate some muffins!  They were apple muffins to go with our apple week.

Sorting out some Mm pictures.

Enjoying our apple Muffins!

One of our sight words was: to.

This poem was put into our journals.

All about Johnny Appleseed!

On Wednesday - another Mm activity we did was hunting for Mm's using M & M's!  They had to place a M&M on all the letter Mm's in the poem.  After they found them all - they had to circle the Mm's and of course they got to eat their M&M's.

Sight word: a.
Poem went into our journal.

Literacy centers.  ABC match.  They had to choose a bear with a letter on it - find in on their sheet and color it in.

Working on our color identifying.

Ipads!

One of our Johnny Appleseed crafts.

We read a story this week to help with learning to sequence events in a story.  After we read our story - we put the items that the old lady ate in order.

The Kidners brought in their own apples on Thursday.  We weighed them, measured how tall they were with cubes and taste tested them!

On Thursday I also brought in some apples - green, red and yellow for the Kinders to taste test.
We determined the color, the size and if we liked it or not.

We talked about and listed what we can use apples for.
On our list was apple cider - so we had to try some!

Trying some nice warm apple cider.

After taste testing our apples - they had to pick their favorite one - red, green or yellow.  They then had to paint their apple that color.

Our apples up with our Johnny Appleseed crafts!

On Friday we made homemade applesauce!

We are mixing and smashing our apples before we let it cook for the day.

Our handwriting for Friday was to name what their apple turned into and attach it to their apple craft.  We reviewed our list of what we can use apples for and then they had to choose just one.

Math centers: Roll a leaf.  They each got a dice.  They had to roll it, count the dots, find that number on a leaf and color the leaf.  They had to keep rolling to try to get their paper filled up.

Our applesauce is done!
