Let's get crazy about Adjectives, tally marks and Cooperating!!

We have started this year in Kinder on a great foot and we took off from there!  These Kinders have been super busy and have been adjusting well to Kindergarten.

We started to learn about setting and characters.  We worked with identifying the characters in a story and identifying the different settings in a story.

We also matched up some characters with a setting on where we think they should go or fit in with the setting.
In their journals they drew a setting that matched their animal.

We have been doing our ABC boot camp.  We learn to identify the letter and the sound the letter makes before we really dig into working with a letter or two a week.
Kinders going a a letter hunt.  They had a clipboard and a sheet of paper with some letters we have learned.  They had to go around the room, find those letters and trace them as they find them.

Working on our Social Studies packet.  We have been learning about how to be a good citizen.   In this lesson we learned about how to cooperate.  We read a story: The Crayon Box that Talked.  We discussed how the crayons did not cooperate with each other at the beginning of the story.  We then discussed what happened at the end of the story when they did start to cooperate together.

We had to draw a picture with just one crayon and one crayon only.  They all decided that their pictures weren't as 'pretty' as they wanted.

We brought in more colors and friends to make a picture together.   They all did an awesome job cooperating with making a beautiful picture!

We have been learning about describing words (adjectives).  After reading our story for the whole week - we listed some words to describe our PLAIDypus.

Math center - Dump It!   They had to dump their counters and identify ways to make 5.   We worked on making tally marks to show how many we have of each color.
