Buddy Reading and Friendship Salad!

 We have been working with identifying characters in stories.  In our journals we did a character sort. 

We are starting something new in Kindergarten this year:  BUDDY READING with the 3rd graders.  Each Friday the 3rd graders will venture to our room for about 25 minutes to read, do activities, play games or do crafts with the Kinders.  

Our first week was a success and the Kinders LOVED having the older kids come in to help them. 

To end our Social Studies with learning about how to be a good citizen, we made our friendship fruit salad.  The Kinders each brought something for our friendship salad.  

We discussed ways to be a good citizen:

take turns

share

cooperate

never give up

do your best

help others

make good choices

Here we are making our Friendship salad! 

Before they added their item - they had to glue it onto our fruit salad bowl.  Each items listed a way to be a good citizen to help remind us as we dumped our ingredients in. 

Enjoying our Friendship salad!   We had some salad left over, so we decided to share it with others in the school!
