This past week has been a super busy and super fun week for the Kinders. Not only was it our homecoming week, but it was also our apple week and the first week of fall!
Here we are making fall trees. We put our trees into ziplock bags, added our paint and then squished our paint around to spread the colors.
We have finished our ABC bootcamp and now we are ready to learn about one or two letters a week! We started off our week with learning about the letter Mm. We did an Mm hunt using m&m's.
After we found out Mm's we were introduced to the sound of Mm. We reviewed our ABC bootcamp Mm chart that we made and identified the Mm pictures that were on the chart. We read a story about a little mouse, so we turned out M into a mouse!
We started off our apple week by learning about the parts of an apple and the life cycle of an apple/apple tree. We also were introduced to labels and what they help us do.
Our apple labeling craft.
This week we continued to learn about our 5 senses. On Monday we learned about our sense: touch. We were introduced to texture words such as: bumpy, smooth, rough, soft and squishy. We became scientists and investigated our materials and sorted them out based on what texture we though they were.
On Tuesday we learned about out sense: taste. We learned that we use our tongue to use our sense of taste. We also talked about the importance of our taste buds as well. We became scientists again and investigated our items by using our tongues and taste test our items. We learned some four new taste words: sweet, sour, bitter and salty. We tried a type of food for each taste word. We had to investigate if our taste buds liked the foods or not.
On Wednesday we leaned about the sense: sight. We learned that we use our eyes to see. We became scientist and used magnifying glasses to take a closer look at the items. We also learned that you can not investigate the items with the magnifying glass if your eyes are closed. :)
Our apples labeled and up in the hallway!
We also painted some apple trees. We used our sense of touch to help us paint these apple trees. We got to squish and smooth paint with our hands!
Along with our busy week, we we introduced to nouns. We focused this week on people nouns. We searched and identified people nouns.
We went on a person noun hunt through magazines to cut out and glue to our noun paper.
This week for apple week, we made homemade cinnamon apples. I did not get a picture of us mixing it together and enjoying them! Sorry.
On Thursday we did get to taste test three types of apples! We tried a red, yellow and a green apple. We identified that we would be using our sense of taste and smell to taste our apples.
We also got to taste some warm apple cider. Yummy!
All lined up for our homecoming parade!
Our last apple project for the week. They had to make apples by ripping pieces of paper. They choose the color of their favorite apples they liked when we taste tested them.
