We have exactly gone buggy!! With only a week left of school-you can tell the excitement is coming out a little bit more! :) This week we learned about insects. We learned that they have three body parts: head, thorax and abdomen, they also have two antenna and six legs.
In reading this week we read a story about Old MacDonald had a Woodshop. We also read other Old MacDonald books and compared the two stories. We also came up with our own MacDonald song. We listed some random animals, came up with a sound they make and then sang it!
Here are some pictures of our busy week.
Before we started our bug unit we made our own bugs!
Here are our chicken life cycle crafts that we make last week.
Also before we started our bug unit I had them think of things that they know about bugs. I love the 'gross' comment. I completely agree! :)
Building our bees,
We looked through a magic Kaleidoscope that showed us how insects see.
Another fun fact we learned about bees is that they have five eyes! Two big eyes and three little ones in between their big ones! We also learned that the female bees are the only ones that sting.
At the end our Old MacDonald reading unit we made our farm animals!
We had a visitor from Lewis and Clark Natural Resources Department come in and talk about trees for Arbor Day! At the end of the lesson they each got their own little tree to take home to plant!
Making our hand print leaves for our big class tree.
Our bugs out and up in the hallway!
