'Hoppy' Easter!!!

Hoppy Easter everyone!  I hope everyone had a blessed Easter with their loved ones.  I just can't believe Easter is here and gone!  We have started our count down till summer break!  Our chain just keeps getting shorter and shorter - we still are keeping busy in Kindergarten!

This week we learned two letters: Yy and Qq.  We learned that Q married U so they will always be together when a word has the /qu/ sound.

Here is our Yy craft.  We turned our Yy's into Yaks!  We also did an activity where they had to write Yy words on a ball of yarn!

In Science these past two weeks we have been learning about seeds and plants/flowers.
We planted our flowers the other day.  Parents they are perennials - so they will (suppose) to come back next year.

Our Qq craft was we turned our Qq's into quilts.  We painted our Qq's - but we painted with Q-tips!!

One of our Easter stories we read this week was about Clifford.  Emily had a dream that Clifford fell into the dye and started to change colors.  They had to each think of a different way Clifford would look after he feel into the dye.  They turned out so creative!

Another activity that we did to end our plant/flower unit was eating a whole plant.  I kept telling them that they will be eating the seeds, roots, stem, leaves and flower.  You should have seen their faces.  They must not like to eat dirt filled roots.   Most all of them told me that they were going to be sick that day we did this.

Here are the parts of the plant that we ate.
Seeds: Sunflower Seeds
Roots:  Carrots
Stem:  Celery
Flower:  Cauliflower/broccoli
Leaves:  Lettuce

Some our our Q-tip Quilts.

Another Easter story we read was The Easter Bunny by Jan Brett.  All the rabbits in the story decorated eggs to present to the Easter Bunny.
They each decorated an egg that they would present to the Easter Bunny.

Jelly Bean Math!  They each had an egg in the classroom that they had to go find.  Inside their eggs were the jelly beans that we used to do our math.

We made some homemade Easter baskets.  They turned out super cute!
