This past week was Read Across America Week. This is the week where schools all over the country celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday. We celebrated his birthday the whole entire week in Kindergarten. We had a theme that went with the books that we were reading for each day.
Monday: Pajama Day! - we read the books: Green Eggs and Ham and Horton Hears a Who
Tuesday: Red, White and Black Day! - we read the books The Cat in the Hat and Hop on Pop
Wednesday: Wacky Wednesday/Crazy Sock Day - we read the books: Fox in Socks and Wacky Wednesday
Thursday: Rainbow Day - we read the books One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish and There's a Wocket in my Pocket
Before we read the book Green Eggs and Ham we listed some items that were green. They each got to list one item. We then wrote a sentence and colored the picture of the object the choose. We turned our writing into a class book.
Along with our pajama day, we made green eggs and ham after reading our story. While eating our eggs and ham we watched the little cartoon of Green Eggs and Ham.
Our chart after eating green eggs and ham.
Here are some class pictures of them on pajama day!
Rhyming Cat in the Hat words. They had to list words on the Cat's hat that were in the -at family.

The hats finished and put up! They turned out amazing!
During our busy week we started one of our St. Patrick's crafts - name rainbows.

After reading A Wocket in My Pocket we did a little handwriting craft. We worked with -ocket words. We changed the first letter of pocket and came up with some silly things that were in our pockets. They then had to draw a picture of their 'creature' in their pocket.

They each had to decorate a sock that they would like the fox to wear.
Our craft for One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish. They had to write next to each fish the title of the book.
