Hello Spring!!!!

The sun is shining, the birds are coming out and chirping, days are longer and the weather is becoming beautiful!  All of these things can only mean one thing---- SPRING!! My favorite time of year (it's also flip flop season as well) :).

Our letter of the week was the letter Uu.  We started off our week by turning our Uu's into umbrellas.  With all this rain in the Spring - these umbrellas maybe handy!

One of our sight words for the week.

Our Uu umbrellas all finished and up!

Spring is here!  Our hallway bulletin board.

We did some rainbow writing.  We thought of items that were each color of the rainbow. They then had to choose one to write that reminds them of Spring.

One of our sight words was: down.   With that being said we sat 'down' on the floor and did our work for most of the day. :)

Our sight word poem that went into our journals.

Doing some buddy reading with their puppets!

In Social Studies we ended our unit leaning about money, how to earn it and ways to save/spend it.   They had to clip through some magazines and choose 5 items they would spend their money on.

Reading to our puppets!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

This week the Kinders learned two letters:  Ww and Xx.
To start off our with learning the letter Ww we turned Ww into a wagon.

A Web full of Ww words.   They had to identify, read and cut out the words that started with Ww and glue them onto their webs.

For the letter Xx we turned out arms into an Xray picture.  We glued on Q-tips for our 'bones.'

Our pots of gold drying before we hang them up in the classroom.

Roll a gold coin.   They had to roll two dice, count the dots and find the number.

Our pots of gold dried and up!

Writing some Xx words on the giant Xx.

We read a story called Not a Box.  It is about a little bunny who uses his imagination and turns the box into other things.   They had to use their imagination and turn the boxes into something.  They glued their 'box' onto their paper and drew what they imagined around it.  To add with the letter Xx they had to write the letter Xx in marker.

Our 'How to catch a Leprechaun' writings.

Leprechaun craft.

We have been working with writing riddles that of course - rhyme!

Here are some of their creations!

Decorating our name clovers for our door decor.

On St. Patrick's Day we had a naughty little leprechaun visit us through out the day.  When we first walked in our room was a MESS!  That leprechaun tipped our tables upside down, messed up our room and even put the Kinders on yellow!

In the afternoon he came back again and left us a note.  In the note it said that he left 8 clovers in the classroom.  They each had to go find one and he also decided to leave them a prize in Mrs. Bartling's treasure box.
Here are the Kinders with their clovers that they found.

That sneak leprechaun!  Here were their prizes.

The leprechaun's note.  We figured out that he isn't a very good speller.
