And we're off!!!

It has been a busy and crazy first couple weeks of Kindergarten.  We were all learning more about each other and becoming familiar with our schedule.  The first few weeks were reviewed our letters, numbers, colors and shapes.

Here they are 'dancing' for the letter Dd! I will say we have some very good dancers!

In Social Studies we started off learning about ourselves and others.  The Kindergartners had their very first homework assignment!  They had to cut out pictures of things they like at home to put on their poster, so others can get to know them more.

We have been practicing really hard with learning to write out letters correctly, using the lines (the sky, the middle line and the ground).  They have come quite a ways already.  We are also learning how to use finger spaces between words.  Our 'spacers' work perfect!

In Science we started off learning about living and nonliving items.  We learned to sort and identify if they were living or nonliving.  Here is a song that we learned to help us!
The tune is:  Are You Sleeping?

In our journal we are sorting out living and nonliving items.

Our posters all up in the hallway for others to see!

In math we started off learning how to sort items.  We learned to sort by shape, color and size.  We also learned how to identify if something is alike or not alike.

Here they are sorting their shapes in their journals.

Working on our family posters.

Our Families chart that we used to start learning about how families are different from each other and to help us know more about why families are important.

Here the Kindergartners are on a hunt for 'o's.  They are looking for o's in the words and then gluing a Cheerio to replace the o. Not only was it a fun activity, it was a YUMMY one too! :)

Working on some letters and finger spaces.

One of our sight word poems.  This poem was for our sight word: the.

They glued that exact poem after circling all the 'the's in the poem.  They then had to draw a spider to go with it.

Qq is for quilt!  They are gluing on their squares to make their quilt.

Circling all the 'little' words in our sight word poem.

Working on some more word work with the sight word: little.

Our family posters are done!
