Easter

Spring is finally here, which brings us Easter! The holiday that brings us all together as families and be thankful for our lives.  For the little ones you can't forget about dying Easter eggs, go on egg hunts, the Easter bunny, Easter baskets and LOTS of candy, which is how we spent our week in our Easter theme (minus the lots of candy part). :)
The letter of the week was Rr, which fit perfectly with our Easter theme.  We learned about the sound of Rr and went on a scavenger hunt to find items that made the sound of Rr.  We also made rabbits out of Rr's.

We tuned up our fine motor skills and senses by making shaving cream eggs.  They are very simple and very fun to play in!  I cut out egg templates for each of the preschoolers.  You lay down some newspaper and add some shaving cream to it. Then they got to choose the 2 colors they wanted (you can use paint or food coloring, I used paint).  Let them mix the shaving cream together with a spoon or whatever you choose.  Once they are done mixing you lay the egg on top of the shaving cream mixture. let it set for a while and then scrap off the excess.

Of course you cannot have an Easter unit without dying eggs!! They were all very happy about dying Easter eggs!.

We let our eggs sit in the dye for almost an hour.  The longer you let them set, the brighter they will be!

We also made color matching eggs.  I did this with my preschoolers last year and liked it so much that I did it again.  I had egg templates but out and added 5 different columns.  Each column had it's own color. They had to match the tissue paper to the color and glue it on.  They turned out awesome!  it is also a good activity to work on their fine motor skills!

While the preschoolers were at recess, a visitor came to our room and left his evidence.

When they walked in the door, their faces said it all!! :) It was priceless!  They got very excited because the Easter bunny came!!  The Easter bunny left me a note with instructions stating:
I hopped by your room
and saw that you were not there.
Follow my tracks and you will find,
a surprise that's one of a kind!
Find the egg with your name,
Open your egg and enjoy!
Happy Easter!
Love,
The Easter Bunny

Here we are enjoying our treats form the Easter bunny!

Happy Easter everyone!!
