We started off in the morning by playing a game that uses mostly our ears. I have one of those little baking/cooking timers and I showed how it sounds and works. The preschoolers played a game where I would hide it and they had to use their ears to find the timer. We played till everyone found the timer! I can't believe how good their little ears are! We then played a game where I had objects in a brown paper bag. They had to feel around in the bag and describe what they felt.
When we learned about our new letter, Ll, we learned it a new fun way! We used SHAVING CREAM! The remarks from the preschoolers were quite funny. I had some say, "You are going to shave my face?", "My dad uses that. His face gets hairy.", "I won't use that! I don't have hair!"
We used our senses to touch the shaving cream, to smell it and to see it. A lot of the preschoolers said it looked like a big fluffy cloud! We wrote our letter Ll in the shaving cream and after that I let them explore and play! Here are some pictures!
We continued our 5 senses unit again on Wednesday. We focused more of the tasting and smelling part of our 5 senses. We learned how to write the letter L and the number 4.
I reviewed with them what each sense does and they remember! (YAY) :)
We did an experiment that made us use our sight, hearing, smelling and tasting today! We popped popcorn! Some of the preschoolers didn't know what I had. We listened to the sound of the kernels being poured into the popcorn popper. We also smelt it before we popped it! Here are some pictures! Their faces say it all!
After we popped our popcorn we did an art project with our letter Ll. We painted our letter Ll red, but of course we couldn't just use our fingers or paintbrushes. We painted our letter L's with BUBBLE WRAP! To incorporate our 5 senses unit we added some Kool-aid mix to our red paint. They all said that it smelt like candy! Our letter L's smelt amazing! The smell is still lingering in my room! Here are the pictures!
After painting our letter L's we couldn't just let the bubble wrap just sit there, we had to POP it!
We finished our long and exciting day with eating our popcorn that we popped earlier and watching a movie about our 5 senses.
