Veterans and Thanksgiving!

Oh my goodness - Thanksgiving has come and gone and 2018 is almost done!  Where has the time gone?  I apologize for the late post.  Here are pictures from the last few weeks of school.

We learned about Veterans, soldiers and heroes/community helpers.  Here is our Veterans craft.

Here is our Thanksgiving door decor.

One of the community helpers we learned about were police officers.  We talked about how they keep us safe and protect us like soldiers and firefighters.

Performing at the Veteran's program.

One of our letters we learned was the letter Nn.  Nn is for night.

Another letter we learned was the letter Bb.  This story is a super cute Bb story.  Bear wakes up and is hungry for breakfast.  He can only eat something that starts with the letter Bb.  Some animals come that start with the letter Bb and they try to help him so they don't get eaten.

During the story Bear got a 'boo-boo.'  We learned that 'boo-boo' starts with the letter Bb.  So we drew some 'boo-boos' on our bears.  We then put on bandaids to help make their boo-boos feel better.

Bb is for bat and ball.

We read a story called Turkey Trouble.  Turkey is in trouble because he finds out that he is the main course for Thanksgiving.  He tries all these different disguises to hide from and trick the farmer.
The Kinders had to think of a new disguise for the turkey so they can hide from the farmer.

Working on some handwriting.  They had to come up with a Thanksgiving grocery list.  They got to choose what they wanted for their Thanksgiving meal.

Ii is for Igloo!

It has been awhile since I last posted and I apologize.  I was gone for a week due to having surgery.  We have been getting back into our regular routine and I am so proud of these Kinders!  In just one week they have grown and accomplished so much!

This week we learned the letter Ii.  We focused on short Ii sound and were introduced to the long Ii sound as well.  Next week we will focus on both long and short sounds of Ii.

Here is our Ii is for igloo craft.

Halloween was this past week which made things even more busier for us.  Our handwriting and centers were Halloween themed.  We are still working on writing words to build complete sentences.
We read a story about a silly turkey who wanted some candy for Halloween.  He tried costume after costume but the farmers always figured out it was turkey.
Each Kinder had to think of a costume for turkey to wear for Halloween to trick the farmers so he could get some candy!  They did an AMAZING job!

We reviewed beats in words.  We read a Halloween story and after the story we listed some of the Halloween words we heard in the story and then thought of some new ones.  We clapped out and counted how many beats were in our Halloween words.

Another Halloween handwriting we did went with this cute little book.   Little Mummy was playing hide and seek with his Mummy and then got lost.  He went to different spooky parts of the dark spooky forest but when he got scared his 'mummy' came to the rescue.

We thought of things that we were afraid/scared of.  I have a lot of brave Kinders who said they weren't scared of anything, but once they realized that others were afraid of things they they opened up.  :)
They did an awesome on their handwriting.  They thought of some very sweet answers.

To go with our handwriting we had to make some mummies! We tore some white paper, cut out eyes and glued it all together to make our mummies.

We read the story "Spookley the Square Pumpkin."  It is a cute story to teach us that it doesn't matter what we look like, we are all the same on the inside.  They each got to draw and cut out their pumpkins whatever shape they wanted.  We then cut out a mouth, nose, stem, grass and eyes to go with it.  They all noticed that not one pumpkin was the same.

Our poor teacher's aide - Grace.  They kids LOVED LOVED LOVED wrapping her up like a mummy during our Halloween party.  She is such a great girl and does wonders with the Kinders.  They sure do love her.  She got to stay during our whole Halloween party to play games with us and have some Halloween treats!
