Oh the places you will go Class of 2028!!

Well, they did it! The Kindergartners walked across the stage and received their Kindergarten diploma.  I am very proud of these 12 little ones who have grown so much over these last 159 days!  I have learned all of their personalities, interests and loved them as they were my own.  I will say we had some tough days, but their bright spirits and smiles made up for that.  A class of 12 with 10 boys, sure had some work cut out for me, but I wouldn't trade the time that I had for anything.  Those boys are quite the group of boys with all different personalities.  The two girls....oh my they were sweeties!

Kindergarten graduating class of 2016 and high school class of 2028: keep your heads up, keep pushing yourselves and you will succeed at all you do.  Remember to always believe in your self and have confidence.  You may fail, but you will always reach the top.  Remember:  a persons a person, no matter how small!

Here are some things we did in the last week of Kindergarten!

Our last day of school pictures!  I will say I did shed a few tears, not only because I have one of my own in this class, but this group is full of energy and wonder which made every single day of Kindergarten a special one!

Winding down on the last day of Kindergarten!

The graduates!!!

Congratulations Kindergartners!
Good luck in first grade!!

April Showers bring... PUDDLES, lots and lots of PUDDLES!!!

Can you see it?  Look outside...that big shiny yellow thing...YES the sun!! The sun is finally out!!! Hello sunshine and dry ground :).   April showers brought lots and lots of puddles.  During those rainy dreary days the Kindergartners stayed busy even though we were cooped up inside, but we made the best of it!

Here is one of our amazing words we focused on in the last few weeks.

On these rainy days, we decided to make some umbrellas with some rain drops to spruce up our ceiling.  Maybe that jinxed us with all the rain.....

Jackie Steffen from UNL Extension Office came in and talked to us about embryology and got us ready to watch our chick eggs.

Our pattern flowers that turned out very cute! We read story by Eric Carle, The Little Seed.  The little seed flew all over the place before finding the perfect spot to land and grow.  They had to think of where their seed would fly to and then write it in a sentence.

Sorting out night and day pictures.

In Science we focused on plant parts, what they need and how they grow.

We planted some seeds so we can watch them grow!

Our 18 chick eggs in the incubator.

After our plant unit, I told the Kindergartners we were going to eat every single plant part, yes including roots.  Their reactions were quite humorous. They asked if I shook off the dirt on the roots because they aren't allowed to eat dirt....anymore.  (Oh boy!) :)
Here is the sheet we used to help see the parts of the plant we eat.

Our plant parts we eat. I told them that we eat different plant parts all the time, but just never know it.  Now they know and they tell me what part of the plant they ate at lunch all the time now!  Awesome!

We read a story where a crocodile ate a seed and became very scared.  He was thinking about all what would happen to him and then ended up burping up the seed.  It was a very quite and funny story.  I had them think of what would happen if they ate a watermelon seed.  Here are their responses.

Our door decor.

Happy Earth Day!!!

April 21 is National Kindergarten Day!  Yes that is an actual day!  What better way to celebrate National Kindergarten Day then to have a pajama day, Popsicles, a movie and cake!!

Our chicks hatched!!  Out of the 18 eggs we only had 7 baby chicks hatch.

They had to think of things their train could carry. They looked through magazines to choose what they wanted in their train.  Thanks for the donations of magazines!  They get put to good use!! We appreciate them!

We reviewed vowels this last week.  Here we are graphing to see how many vowels are in our sight words.  After looking at our sight words, we had a lot of words with the vowel Ee in them.

One of our recent sight words was: under.  What better way to work with under than to draw a picture UNDER our tables!!

We recently learned about bugs.  We learned about their body parts, how bugs can change and that they have compound eyes.  They each got a bug viewer (kaleidoscope) to look through to see how a bug sees.

We recently learned addition and how to write an addition sentence.  Here we are practicing some addition sentences.  Let's just say these Kindergartners are great at addition facts!  Now to move on to subtraction!
